LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31, 2013 /CNW/ - Canadian Comedy award winning actress Lindsay Ames will appear in the Funny or Die sketch comedy videos "Karaoke Adventure" and "I am Lisa Simpson" featuring Yeardley Smith, the Emmy winning actress who voices Lisa Simpson on "The Simpsons." The videos are slated to release in January 2014 on www.funnyordie.com
From director Andrew Bush ("Roller Town"), "Karaoke Adventure" answers the question of what happens when a night of karaoke goes awry. Ames is playing a karaoke patron who reveals an unexpected plot twist.
In "I am Lisa Simpson," Smith and Ames find themselves in an unlikely world where no one knows who Lisa Simpson is. Ames plays a customer who gives Smith a hard time during her comedic identity crisis.
"What an amazing experience it was to work with a legend," Ames said of acting alongside Smith. "I always feel lucky and excited to work with these people because they're always fun and unique projects. They keep me on my toes as a performer."
Bush said, "Lindsay not only has fantastic comedic instincts, she brings a great energy to set. I'm always excited when I get to work with her. I am a fan."
Ames' recent sketch work punctuates her prolific 2013. The Vancouver transplant received in November a Best Guest Star nomination for her role in "Actress" from Channel 101's annual Channy Awards created by Emmy winners Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab, who wrote "Monster House" and co-created "The Sarah Silverman Program." Ames also acted in the short films "The Avengers: Unhulked" and "Catfishing!" She's appeared this year on Fox's "New Girl," the CW's "Beauty and the Beast," Channel 101's "Catlands" and "Baby Mentalist," "Single Siblings" and "Breaking Good."
Ames has acted in the forthcoming Ben Bolea directed comedy feature, "Mr. Intangibles." She's also appearing in an upcoming CollegeHumor.com sketch, a Bud Light national commercial running during the NFL playoffs and will star in and produce the 2014 short film, "I Didn't Know."
In 2011, Ames won a Canadian Comedy Award for "That Thing That Happened," co-starring Josh Saltzman ("This Hour Has 22 Minutes"). She acted with Saltzman in the Canadian Comedy Award nominee, "The Fish Bride," and has been featured on Comedy Central's "Tosh.O" and "Key and Peele."
