CloudLink® Launches SecureVM Data Security Solution for VMware® vCloud® Air™
Hybrid Cloud Encryption Platform Protects VMs Data with Enterprise Control
OTTAWA, Aug. 25, 2014 /CNW/ - CloudLink® Technologies, a leader in cloud security and data encryption management, announces availability of CloudLink SecureVM for VMware vCloud® Air™ enabling customers to manage data security on Windows & Linux-based virtual machines.
CloudLink SecureVM helps secure both boot and data volumes with a centralized approach that allows IT departments to have visibility and control over when and where their VMs are started. The solution provides enterprises with full control of the encryption keys for both Windows- and Linux-based virtual machines and helps validate the integrity of these virtual machines before they are allowed to boot.
Security of sensitive data is the leading concern for many organizations considering the use of cloud services according to 451 Research. The CloudLink data security platform includes a suite of encryption modules to protect workloads at multiple layers to help secure business applications, hosted desktops and file shares.
"Organizations who want the benefits of the cloud need an easy way to address deployment and security challenges," explains Ajay Patel, vice president of Application Services, vCloud Air, VMware. "VMware and CloudLink are providing a suite of solutions that enable organizations to retain control over data privacy and security while seamlessly extending their data centers to VMware vCloud® Air™."
"Cloud security is a top priority for many enterprises, and cloud security solutions must leverage the company's existing data security technology and operational expertise," says Alex Berlin, CEO of CloudLink. "SecureVM unlocks native OS encryption with a centralized management approach that allows IT departments to have control over when and where their VMs and data are run and accessed, enabling enterprises to confidently adopt VMware vCloud® Air™ knowing their data will remain private and can meet regulatory compliance requirements."
The benefits of SecureVM to vCloud Air customers are as follows:
- Comprehensive security controls, including volume encryption and VM integrity verification against unauthorized modifications
- Encryption key management remains under the control of the enterprise, including the ability for the encryption key store to reside within the enterprise data center
- Decreased security deployment complexity and operational costs by leveraging embedded OS encryption tools and avoiding changes to how data is stored
