HALIFAX, Aug. 10, 2016 /CNW/ - Clearwater Seafoods celebrates its 40th anniversary today and begins the next chapter in the success story of one of Canada's largest publicly-traded seafood companies.
The Clearwater story begins in 1976, when John Risley and Colin MacDonald, two innovative Nova Scotian entrepreneurs, founded the company with just a pickup truck and a tremendous vision. Forty years later, Clearwater has grown to become an Atlantic Canadian export trade success story.
Long-standing commitment to global leadership in sustainable seafood excellence
Clearwater has been a pioneer in science-based management and premium, wild, sustainable seafood. Working in collaboration with and under the guidance of the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Clearwater produces the largest selection of Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certified seafood of any shellfish harvester globally.

With over 15 offices and processing facilities located worldwide, Clearwater has further expanded into Europe with the recent acquisition of the UK-based Macduff Shellfish.
