EDMONTON, July 16, 2013 /CNW/ - The Cash Store Financial Services Inc.
("Cash Store Financial" or the "Company") (TSX: CSF; NYSE: CSFS) today
announced that a proposed class action proceeding has been commenced in
Quebec against the Company and certain of its present and former
directors and officers. The claim is substantially similar to the
recently announced proposed class action proceedings in New York,
Alberta and Ontario and the previously disclosed complaint filed by
Globis Capital Partners L.P.
The plaintiffs allege, among other things, that the Company made
misrepresentations during the period from November 24, 2010 to May 24,
2013 regarding the Company's internal controls and financial reporting
and the third-party loan portfolio acquisition.
The Company plans to defend itself vigorously against what it believes
are unfounded allegations.
The Company acknowledges that substantially similar class actions may
continue to be commenced in Alberta, Ontario, New York and Quebec, as
well as other jurisdictions. To the extent that such substantially
similar proceedings are commenced, the Company will provide disclosure
in its quarterly and annual filings.
