Children's charity benefits from new outdoor market
Fundraiser campaign will see Calgary's favourite farmers' market in Marda Loop on Thursdays
CALGARY, June 30 /CNW/ - Throughout the summer the Calgary Farmers' Market will extend its business hours, pouring its bounty of fresh produce and charitable spirit into Marda Loop. In partnership with Marda Loop Revitalization Zone and Calgary Children's Wish Foundation, CFM will be selling a large selection of fresh produce every Thursday evening (weather permitting) from 4-8 p.m. in the parking lot of The Loop Breakfast House (2015 33 Ave SW).
"We're excited to be able to get out into one of Calgary's most vibrant communities and rally people behind a good cause," said Ken Aylesworth, General Manager of the CFM, adding the fundraising goal is to raise $5,000. "Calgarians will now be able to access some of their favourite vendors on Thursdays while supporting the Children's Wish Foundation. It's a win for everyone involved."
The fundraiser will begin on July 1 and close on August 26, the last Thursday of the summer. Calgarians will be able to find a large selection of Alberta and BC produce from vendors such as Innisfail Growers and Gull Valley Greenhouses. The old-fashioned outdoor market will also feature fresh lemonade, snacks, tea, artisans and more.
All booth rental fees have been generously donated by CFM vendors and there will be donation boxes on site.
"We are grateful for the funds and awareness the Calgary Farmer's Market will be raising on our behalf," say Megan Innes, Fundraising Coordinator of the Children's Wish Foundation AB and NWT Chapter. "These funds will go to our cause of granting children with a life threatening illnesses their most heartfelt wish."
Market vendors contribute food on a weekly basis to the Salvation Army. "The Calgary Farmers' Market community is excited to be moving to its new Blackfoot Centre location at the end of the year," says Aylesworth. "But until then, we're still here at Currie Barracks, and we'll continue to support our shoppers and the community."
