TORONTO, March 22, 2016 /CNW/ - TVO is pleased to announce a renewed sponsorship by the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario), in support of The Agenda with Steve Paikin. This marks the ninth consecutive year of sponsorship by CPA Ontario.
The Agenda with Steve Paikin is TVO's flagship current affairs program. It seeks to engage individuals in big issues in a thoughtful, insightful and personalized manner, and on the platform of their choosing, presented through engaging information, analysis, discussions, and debate. TVO believes that fostering a deeper understanding of the social, political, cultural and economic forces that shape us are core needs in a democratic society.
"We're pleased to have the generous financial support of the CPA Ontario for the ninth consecutive year," says Lisa de Wilde, TVO's Chief Executive Officer. "High quality journalism plays a key role in building strong democracies. This long-standing sponsorship confirms the unique value The Agenda with Steve Paikin brings to citizens by building a digital public space focused on Ontario-perspective, in-depth current affairs."
TVO is not fully funded by the province. The financial support the organization receives from donors and corporate sponsors is critical to building a sustainable financial model and keeping TVO on air and online.
"We are pleased to announce our continued financial support of The Agenda with Steve Paikin," said Carol Wilding, FCPA, FCA, President & CEO of CPA Ontario. "The Agenda attracts a highly influential audience of business and thought leaders on air and online. CPA Ontario is proud to be associated with The Agenda."
In January 2016, The Agenda launched a more dynamic new format that makes TVO's unique offering of high quality journalism accessible to Ontarians where they spend time: on their desktop, on mobile devices, and on television.
As the technological extension of Ontario's public education system, TVO's vision is to create a better world through the power of learning. TVO provides learning opportunities for Ontarians through innovative educational products, in-depth current affairs, groundbreaking documentaries, and award-winning TVOKids resources both inside and outside the classroom. TVO is funded primarily by the Province of Ontario and is a registered charity supported by sponsors and thousands of donors. For more information, visit tvo.org.
