Investment project of more than $11M
MONTRÉAL, June 27, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The governments of Canada and Quebec are confirming the award of a total of $3.3M in financial assistance to CGP Expal to support its expansion with the acquisition of new equipment for its production line. This project represents total investments of more than $11M and will help create 14 well-paying jobs in Bromont.
The Government of Canada has granted a repayable contribution of $1.5M under the Quebec Economic Development Program through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED). The Government of Quebec has provided CGP Expal with a $1.8M loan through its ESSOR program (website in French only).
The Honourable Denis Paradis, Member of Parliament for Brome–Missisquoi, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, and Stéphane Billette, Member for Huntingdon and Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development, acting on behalf of Dominique Anglade, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy, Science and Innovation and Minister responsible for the Digital Strategy, made the announcement today during the inauguration of CGP's new production unit.
More specifically, CGP Expal's project consists in acquiring the equipment needed to transfer some of the manufacturing processes for products intended for the U.S. market from its European plant to its Bromont plant. The company will be adding a coating process to the plant's cutting and distribution activities. A production area was laid out to start up the paper coating unit.
With assistance from the governments, CGP was able to purchase the equipment needed for its project, including a new-generation paper coater, a cutting machine, a spooler, a film wrapping machine and a pile turner. The financial support was also used to cover the costs of laboratory equipment and computer hardware.
"Since its foundation, CGP Expal has made some smart choices to grow its business. And it is doing so again by broadening the scope of its activities. There is no doubt that this new business strategy will allow it to take advantage of the many market opportunities that arise. I am proud to support the growth of this company, which is securing its position as a leader in anti-slip paper manufacturing."
The Honourable Denis Paradis, Member of Parliament for Brome–Missisquoi
"CGP Expal has been well established in the area since 2011 and today it is presenting a major investment project with which we are proud to be associated. Our government's measures and financial leverages are made available to all of Quebec's entrepreneurs who want to become more competitive and more prosperous, just like this dynamic enterprise."
Stéphane Billette, Member for Huntingdon and Minister for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development

That is why we support businesses like CGP Expal, whose success benefits the Eastern Townships region and the Canadian economy overall."

"CGP Expal's project is growth-generating for Quebec. It will help develop local expertise in a specialized field and increase the consumption of products manufactured in Quebec. This is a great example of an initiative that will enhance competitiveness and productivity, create jobs and ensure sustainable development."
Dominique Anglade, Deputy Premier, Minister of Economy, Science and Innovation and Minister responsible for the Digital Strategy
"The Montérégie has thousands of businesses in some of Quebec's key economic sectors. They need targeted interventions to turn their ideas into projects and thus contribute to the vitality of our economy and our communities. I welcome the Government of Quebec's decision to support CGP Expal's growth in Bromont."
Lucie Charlebois, Minister for Rehabilitation, Youth Protection, Public Health and Healthy Living and Minister responsible for the Montérégie region
"We are proud to expand our production and develop our expertise in the Eastern Townships region. Thanks to the support from all of our government partners, we will be able to supply our products more quickly for the U.S. market and continue to grow.
