Certified Management Accountants of Ontario announces new Chair

TORONTO, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - Certified Management Accountants of Ontario (CMA Ontario) is proud to announce that John Hsu, MBA, FCMA, C. Dir., has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors for 2010-2011.

Certified Management Accountants of Ontario is a self-governing, professional organization that awards the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation to qualified candidates in Ontario. CMAs are strategic and financial management professionals who combine accounting expertise with professional management skills and strategy to provide leadership, innovation, and an integrating perspective to organizational decision-making.

John has a strong background in financial management, performance management and strategic planning. John is Managing Director, Risk Management & Operations, at University of Toronto Asset Management Corporation (UTAM), the investment management subsidiary of the University of Toronto whose mission is to provide dedicated professional management of the University's pension, endowment and working capital funds totaling approximately $4.9 billion. John's responsibilities encompass oversight of all aspects of the firm's finance, operations, performance analytics, and compliance & risk management functions. 

John has a longstanding record of service to the CMA designation.  After serving as First Vice-Chair of CMA Ontario in 2009-2010, John was named Chair of the Board in August 2010. He has been a member of the CMA Ontario Board of Directors since 2006, and was a member of the Finance and Program Committee from 2003 to 2006.

John holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario's Richard Ivey School of Business and a Bachelor in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto. He also earned the Chartered Director designation from The Directors College, a joint venture between The Conference Board of Canada and McMaster University's DeGroote School of Business. John obtained his CMA designation in 2002 and was the Valedictorian of the graduating class that year.  He was awarded a Fellowship to the Society of Management Accountants of Canada in 2007.  

In addition to his volunteer activities with CMA Ontario, John serves on the Board of Directors and Investment Committee of the Greater Toronto Scout Foundation, and is a past Treasurer and Finance Committee Chair of Scouts Canada, Greater Toronto.
