Cenovus Energy to support environmental education
CANMORE, AB, Nov. 24 /CNW/ - The Alberta Council for Environmental Education (ACEE) announced today a three-year agreement with Cenovus Energy in support of the Cenovus Energy Environmental Education Leadership Clinic. ACEE organizes the annual clinic, which supports environmental education in Alberta.
"We've heard from participants that the leadership clinic model offers some of the best professional development they've experienced. The opportunity to pre-plan and develop a vision, to network for success, and to develop actions plans that they can bring to a wider audience makes it a very positive experience," says Jeff Reading, Chair of ACEE. "Thanks to Cenovus Energy, ACEE will ensure that up to thirty environmental education teams from all across Alberta participate in this innovative professional experience over the next three years."
This year's participants included: a school board, a museum, high schools, non-profit groups, and government agencies from across Alberta. Teams come with an environmental education goal in mind and receive valuable planning tools and time during the four-day clinic. They leave with a plan to deliver on their goal and to become leaders in their program area in their schools and communities. The clinic ran November 15-18 at the Sanctum Retreat near Caroline, AB.
"Cenovus is committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work," says Lynne Douglas, Group Lead, Community Investment at Cenovus. "We are pleased to support the Environmental Education Leadership Clinics. The clinics will give educators the tools they need to promote environmental sustainability in our province."
