Catholic Teachers Welcome Liz Sandals as New Minister of Education

TORONTO, Feb. 11, 2013 /CNW/ - Ontario's Catholic Teachers welcome the appointment of Liz Sandals as Minister of Education.

"We look forward to working with Minister Sandals in her new role and to forging a productive relationship with her," says Kevin O'Dwyer, President of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association (OECTA). "As a former Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education, school board trustee and Chair of the Ontario Public School Board Association, Sandals bring a wealth of experience to the portfolio."

"We are confident of her understanding of the need for cooperation and open dialogue in education and look forward to working together to continue to move Ontario's schools from great to excellent and address the needs of Catholic students and teachers," adds O'Dwyer.

OECTA represents the 43,000 professional women and men who teach all grades in publicly funded English Catholic schools in Ontario.
