Cassie Campbell Street Hockey Festival Kicks off 7th Year
CALGARY, April 30 /CNW/ - Penn West presents The 7th Annual Cassie Campbell Street Hockey Festival in support of Ronald McDonald House(R) Southern Alberta. The event kicks off today at the Olympic Oval. Special guest Curtis Joseph is on hand as adult corporate teams play today while the youth teams have their tournament tomorrow, May 1. 1,500 players will participate in the event.
"Over the last six years, Ronald McDonald House has become a very important place in my life," says Olympic Gold Medalist Cassie Campbell. "While volunteering there, I have met so many special children and families and I have seen with my own eyes how important it is for sick children and their families to be together while the child is being treated. I've worked with parents and children facing some of life's toughest challenges and frankly, their courage has been a source of inspiration for me in my own life and athletic career."
The annual celebrity game runs Saturday, May 1st at Noon. Local personalities, such as Henry Burris, will face off against NHL great Curtis Joseph and others while Cassie Campbell runs the bench as Head Coach.
The FREE Family Festival is open all day Saturday and everyone is welcome to come down and enjoy the live entertainment and kids' activities.
