Casino Nova Scotia presents Bill Cosby Friday, May 21, 2010
HALIFAX, April 29 /CNW/ - Casino Nova Scotia welcomes the beloved Bill Cosby back to the Schooner Showroom for two comedic performances on May 21, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Bill Cosby is an inspiration and national treasure. From humble beginnings, and over five decades in the entertainment industry, he is now an accomplished comedian, author, producer, educator and activist.
In the 60's, his stand-up act was a coast-to-coast sensation spawning a string of hilarious, best-selling comedy albums which went on to earn eight Gold records, five Platinum records and five Grammy Awards. His role on NBC's I Spy made him the first African-American to co-star in a dramatic series breaking television's racial barrier and winning three Emmy Awards. His first sitcom, The Bill Cosby Show ran on NBC for two seasons from 1969 to 1971. Then in the 80's, he again rocked the television world with his second sitcom, The Cosby Show ... a gentle, whimsical and hugely successful series that single-handedly revived the family sitcom. The series ran for a total of eight seasons. During the 90's, he hosted a syndicated revival of the classic Groucho Marx game show, You Bet Your Life and starred in his third sitcom, Cosby which aired on CBS for four seasons and co-starred Phylicia Rashad, his on-screen wife from The Cosby Show. He also hosted CBS's Kids Say the Darndest Things.
With hit films including Uptown Saturday Night and best-selling books such as Fatherhood, Bill Cosby is quite simply a national treasure with the unique ability to touch people's hearts ... while at the same time, making them laugh. He still enjoys performing to sold-out audiences throughout North America and will be appearing for two shows at Casino Nova Scotia in May.
