TORONTO, June 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Carol Heller, Vice President, Residential & Commercial with Kidde Canada Inc. received a Fire Marshal's Award for Excellence in Fire Safety at a ceremony today in Toronto. The annual Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council's Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
Heller has demonstrated a passionate and enthusiastic commitment to enhancing fire and carbon monoxide safety throughout Ontario. Through her work, she has been recognized among fire and life safety retailers as having a passion for the business and for working with partners, such as the Council, to find innovative ways to promote important life saving messages such as 'working smoke alarms save lives.'
Each year, she oversees Kidde Canada Inc. providing more than $500,000 in funding to educational programs for Canadian families. The programs are designed to teach parents, guardians and their children about fire and carbon monoxide safety and to educate them on what to do in an emergency and how to prevent them. In addition, Heller has been instrumental to getting fire prevention messages distributed at media events, through direct mail outs, media advertising, and in product supply and technology know-how for leading television shows such as 'Love It or List It' and 'Income Property.'
Heller has also educated hundreds of fire service professionals on the newest technologies in smoke and carbon monoxide detection. Kidde Canada Inc. has been a proud supporter of the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council for more than 10 years.
