MONTREAL, April 11, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Capital DGMC Inc. (the «Company») (TSXV: FGF) is pleased to announce that Mr. Denis Losier has joined the Board of Directors. The Company, which recently completed its qualifying transaction with Footech Inc, a Moncton-based N.B. business, is a leading supplier of orthopedic devices.
Mr. Denis Losier has recently announced his retirement as President and Chief Executive Officer of Assumption Life, a position he has occupied for 19 years. He will continue being involved in key issues for the economic development of the Atlantic provinces.
Mr. Losier obtained a B.A. in 1973 and a B.Sc. in social science (economics) in 1974 from the Université de Moncton. He then continued his studies at the University of Western Ontario, where he earned a Master's degree in economics in 1975.
Before leading the financial services company, Assumption Life, Mr. Losier was well known as a figure in Canadian politics. In 1988, Mr. Losier was elected as Liberal MLA for the riding of Tracadie, a position he won for a second term in 1991. Mr. Losier was successively appointed Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Minister of the Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
Mr. Losier is a member of the Board of Canadian National, PlazaCorp Retail Property Ltd., Enbridge Gas NB, Canadian Blood Services, as well as member of the Security and Intelligence Review Committee of Canada and, in that capacity, is also a member of the Privy Council.
Mr. Losier has received many recognitions and awards over the course of his exceptional career, including an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from the Université de Moncton in 2003 and the "Prix Montfort" in 2004. In 2011, Mr. Losier became a Member of the Order of Canada, one of our country's highest honours.
