Canoe Therapy's January Groups are in full swing, Little Munchers and Incredible Flexible You, to help children develop age-relevant skills. Little Munchers will help children work past picky eating habits, while Incredible Flexible You will build stronger social skills.
BURLINGTON, Ontario, Jan. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Canoe Therapy is starting the new year by offering two January Groups, Little Munchers and Incredible Flexible You, to help children develop new skills that support their health and social success. Little Munchers, which is open to children between ages 2 and 4, will improve feeding skills by helping children develop a taste for more textures and types of food. Incredible Flexible You, which is a popular returning pediatric therapy group, will help children between ages 4 and 7 build their social skills and better understand which behaviors are socially acceptable.
Both of Canoe Therapy's January Groups are limited to small sizes of just four to six children, and both groups will meet once per week. Little Munchers will meet on Wednesdays from 12:30 - 2:00 p.m., starting on Jan. 21 and ending on March 11, and Incredible Flexible You Mondays from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m., starting on Jan. 21 and ending on March 9. Little Munchers will help children broaden their eating habits through sensory exercises and planned meals; the group also will teach parents new strategies for encouraging their children to eat a wider variety of foods at home. Incredible Flexible You will teach children to regulate their behavior and understand why certain social behaviors are expected. This group is designed for children with average to strong language skills and conditions such as ADHD, Asperger's, or high-functioning Autism.
Each of these pediatric therapy groups is developed and overseen by a professional psychologist or occupational therapist who is registered with the relevant college in Ontario. Participation in either group may qualify for extended healthcare coverage; Little Munchers is eligible under Psychology and Occupational Therapy, while Incredible Flexible You qualifies under Occupational Therapy. More information about the pricing, staffing, and structure for each group can be found on Canoe Therapy's website.
