TORONTO, June 17, 2015 /CNW/ - In the first Regional Session held in Toronto since 2013, The Canada BIM Council (CanBIM) announced today the June 11 event enjoyed record breaking attendance, with over 280 participants, 60 presenters, and over 30 exhibitors on hand. Renowned architect and event Keynote Speaker, Siamak Hariri (hariripontarini.com), kicked off the Toronto Regional Session with an awe-inspiring presentation detailing technology and building information modeling (BIM) implementation during the phases of creating the otherworldly Bahá'i Temple of South America. Presentations and panels featuring innovators in BIM technology and software, with exhibitors and practitioners from all over North America, solidified CanBIM's Regional Sessions as the summit of BIM leadership and BIM business networking.
"We are overwhelmed by the turnout and CanBIM would like to thank our amazing members, sponsors, and exhibitors for what has been a record breaking event," said Allan Partridge, CanBIM President. "We now carry this incredible momentum into our Annual General Meeting and our first ever CanBIM awards in the fall. There's a long way to go but this event amplifies the message that all involved in design, procurement, assembly, and the operation of buildings—plus software vendors and anyone working in this great industry—are making a case for much broader BIM implementation. On that note, we look forward to awarding the "Best in BIM" for those who implement or encompass BIM throughout the entire process."
CanBIM revealed key updates on the First Annual National CanBIM Awards, including three award categories: Interoperability, Innovation, and the "Best in BIM" Award. The awards will take place in Calgary on Sept. 30, 2015, as part of CanBIM's AGM followed by the Calgary Regional Session on Oct. 1. A first for BIM in Canada, these awards are focused on rewarding industry leaders who innovate practices and move data seamlessly through all phases of design, procurement, assembly, and operation. Criteria and Submission details will be posted on the CanBIM Website on July 1st. The AGM, CanBIM Awards and Calgary Regional Session will be held at the Sheraton Suites Calgary Eau Claire. - One (1) Level Certified Professional Certification
