First-ever tour of the real FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy will visit 12 cities ahead of largest live spectator sporting event in Canadian history
TORONTO, Feb. 19, 2015 /CNW/ - The FIFA Women's World Cup 2015™ is set to kick off on June 6, but fans can get a taste of what's to come when the FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola launches its two-month, 12-city tour starting April 1 in Ottawa. Travelling from coast-to-coast in celebration of soccer and women in sport, Canadians will have a rare chance to get up-close-and-personal with the real FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy at the free events.
"Coca-Cola is proud to be presenting the first-ever FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour, bringing Canadians a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to see this magnificent trophy up-close," says Michael Samoszewski, Vice President of the Sparkling Business Unit, Coca-Cola Ltd. "We are excited to share in Canada's passion for soccer and unite Canadians from coast-to-coast at our Trophy Tour experience."
"The FIFA Women's World Cup Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will be the rallying cry for our Canadian Women's National Team leading up to the tournament in June," says John Herdman, Head Coach of the Canadian Women's National Soccer Team. "As Coca-Cola and FIFA bring the Trophy across Canada, and we see the support and pride that Canadians have for the game and our team, it will push us even harder."
The FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour by Coca-Cola will include several interactive and engaging elements, as well as surprises along the way - all in the spirit of setting the stage for what is anticipated to be the largest live spectator sporting event in Canada's history and the biggest FIFA Women's World Cup™ to-date.
Fans will get a taste of the tournament at the custom-designed Fan Experience where they can go head-to-head with the Coca-Cola Robot Goalie, record a cheer for their favourite team, hang out in the FIFA locker room, play 16-person foosball or learn a trick or two from expert freestylers. The experience takes guests through the winner's tunnel, which leads the way to the trophy display where fans will get their photo with the real FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy. Afterwards, guests will cap off their experience with a perfectly served, limited edition aluminum bottle of ice-cold Coca-Cola.
"As the female stars of the game prepare to take centre stage, it is our honour to bring supporters across Canada the trophy that will eventually be lifted by the next FIFA Women's World Cup champions," says Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Director. "We are pleased to once again be working with Coca-Cola in sharing our love of football with the fans ahead of this historic tournament."
