Canadian technology leaders combine cloud, network, and data centres, delivering a powerful and secure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering to Canadian and global businesses.
MONTREAL, QC and CHATHAM, ON, Oct. 26, 2016 /CNW/ - Two of Canada's technology success stories, CloudOps and TekSavvy, are excited to announce they have partnered to scale up cloud.ca -- a newly-independent cloud infrastructure services company that gives Canadian businesses a strong domestic platform from which to innovate on the global stage.
Recognizing the market's need for a cloud that provides Canadian ownership and governance -- in other words, end-to-end data sovereignty -- cloud.ca brings an IaaS solution to businesses requiring that all or some of their data remain within Canadian borders. Effectively, this ensures that data avoids coming under foreign control, helping meet security, compliance, or privacy requirements.
"Combining our two companies' expertise creates an ideal synergy," said Ian Rae, CEO of CloudOps. "TekSavvy's network services and relationships with state-of-the-art data centres provide the perfect foundation and competitive advantage for cloud.ca."
Since the rise of cloud computing, data governance has often been overlooked next to cost and availability concerns when selecting a cloud provider. As businesses become more dependent on moving mission-critical workloads to the cloud, they are taking a closer look at who has access to end-users' personal information, making privacy laws and procurement policies a primary concern. Global players have begun to respond by ramping up their Canadian presence -- but few can claim Canadian ownership and control to fully satisfy data sovereignty requirements. cloud.ca can.
"Piece by piece, TekSavvy is taking the values that have driven its consumer success and applying them to the business services arena to create the kind of resilient, trusted services needed to innovate efficiently," said Pascal Tellier, CIO for TekSavvy. "We're thrilled to partner with CloudOps on cloud.ca to offer our valued customers and the market a scalable, high-performance and resiliant cloud computing service at competitive pricing."
The joint venture delivers a full suite of IaaS capabilities which brings application-centric and end-user cloud computing to companies making the transition to the cloud.
"Our real point of differentiation isn't just cloud servers in Canada," Mike Gero, VP of Product and Business Development at cloud.ca proudly stated. "It's the ownership, control and personalized service that are Canadian, too. Canada can innovate with the best of them -- and cloud.ca can provide that platform."
"The cloud.ca partnership between TekSavvy and CloudOps brings together leaders in regional networking, data centre, and cloud IaaS that offers a unique competitive advantage for jurisdiction-conscious Canadian customers." commented Philbert Shih, Managing Director of Structure Research, a leading Toronto-based independent research and consulting firm focused on hosting and cloud infrastructure.
Mark Shrutt, Research Vice-President, Services & Enterprise Applications of IDC Canada noted: "This partnership is key for cloud.ca's growth and for the overall Canadian market. It is critical to have high quality, in-country delivery of cloud services."
