It was announced on Monday that the Toronto-based software company took home two wins at the Tabby/Mobby Awards 2015 -- a global competition for both consumer and business apps. Previous winners and finalists have included Citrix, Disney, The New Yorker, Adobe and Food Network.
QuickTapSurvey is the first Canadian company to win an Android award at the Tabby/Mobby Business Awards since the annual competition started in 2012.
"We've done everything we can in the last five years to nurture a culture of innovation and push ourselves beyond our limits," says company co-founder Ravin Shah. "There were times we thought we wouldn't make it, yet here we are."
The 20 employee shop has been offering a B2B survey app since 2010, reeling in heavyweight clients such as Harley Davidson, Air Canada rouge and GoodLife Fitness. The subscription-based survey software has more than 65K users in over 80 countries -- with the bulk of QuickTapSurvey customers being small to medium sized businesses.
At the Tabby/Mobby Business Awards this year, QuickTapSurvey won "best Android phone app for in-the-field and data collection" and "best iPhone app for in-the-field and data collection" -- beating out other business apps in those two categories.
These awards are QuickTapSurvey's second claim to fame, as they are also the highest-rated survey app in the Apple App Store.
"We immediately recognized the value of the QuickTapSurvey app for mobile data collection and surveys," reads a statement by the Tabby/Mobby Awards judging panel. "The app is beautifully designed, structured with the end user in mind, and we were especially impressed by the SurveyMonkey integration."
As a fully bootstrapped startup that hasn't relied on venture capital funding, QuickTapSurvey's double award win is put into perspective.
"Winning two awards across two operating systems is especially impressive considering our competitive field of business apps," state the judges.
Shah attributes much of his company's success -- and survival -- to hiring young tech talent, many of whom come from one of Canada's most reputable computer science programs at the University of Waterloo.
As for what 2016 looks like for QuickTapSurvey, they plan to continue with their hiring spree for several engineering and marketing positions.
The Tabby/Mobby Awards 2015 saw other Canadian companies with a strong performance, including winners Kashoo and Challenger 650 (a developer for Bombardier) -- and finalists TouchBistro and ControlApp.
