MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Erin Mills Soccer Club (EMSC) continues to show why it is consistently rated one of the top soccer clubs in Canada with the announcement during half time at the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) 2010 Championship that it has been awarded the franchise for a new professional soccer team for Mississauga. Mississauga FC will be a professional men's team that is scheduled to begin play in the CSL in 2011. EMSC also plans to launch a professional women's team in 2012.
The launch of Mississauga FC fills a market opportunity for a professional soccer team in Mississauga, one of Canada's largest and most vibrant communities. It also adds a valuable building block for EMSC towards realizing its vision of becoming the number one community and competitive soccer club in Canada. As part of its commitment to the ongoing development of youth from the Mississauga community, thereby enabling them to realize their full potential, recreational and competitive soccer players at EMSC will now benefit from being mentored by high-performance professional soccer players including the opportunity of having visits from Mississauga FC players to team practices where they will work with team members on basic and advanced level skills development.
The Mississauga community will now have the opportunity to experience professional soccer at its best and cheer on their own team beginning with what promises to be a spectacular season and franchise home opener in May 2011.
