CANADIAN CLUB ANNOUNCES BIG FALL SEASON
- Names new President and three new high-profile Directors -
TORONTO, Sept. 14 /CNW/ - Toronto's political, business and social sector lunch forum leader, the Canadian Club of Toronto, is launching their 114th year with plans to welcome fresh faces, original ideas and innovative perspectives for a new generation.
Greats who have spoken at previous years' Canadian Club events - including actor Morgan Freeman, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, heads of state, cabinet ministers and CEOs - have all helped shape the podium for Canadian Club's Fall season line-up which includes:

"We are looking forward to a great year. On average, we host 40 events per year, and 2010-11 is shaping up to be among the best yet," says President of the Canadian Club of Toronto, Nick Chambers. "This year's Canadian Club of Toronto programme will feature the calibre of Canadian and international trailblazers and newsmakers the public has come to expect from us. As always, our events will provide ample opportunity to learn, draw inspiration, stay connected and celebrate."
Nick has served on the club's board for seven years and is a Senior Consultant and Partner at Benchmark Performance, a Canadian training design and performance improvement firm. He first became involved with the Canadian Club of Toronto over ten years ago as a speech-writer when his mother, Mary Anne Chambers, was president of the club.
In addition, the Club announces three new Board members:
Don Newman - One of Canada's best known political broadcasters and commentators; reported on and interviewed every prime minister from Pierre Trudeau to Stephen Harper, and for twenty years was Senior Parliamentary Editor of CBC Television News and host of the daily Newsworld program 'Politics with Don Newman'
Ratna Omidvar - President of Maytree, Director of the Toronto City Summit Alliance, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC), and Globe and Mail's 2010 Nation Builder of the Decade for Citizenship
Dany Assaf - Partner at Bennett Jones LLP, co-author of Competition & Antitrust Law: Canada and the United States, Associate Editor of the American Bar Association's Antitrust Magazine, and Honorary Board Member of Scouts Canada
