ID Quotient acquires Arc & Edge as Sarah Baldeo expands a selective publishing platform for STEM, neuroscience and expert-led nonfiction.

TORONTO, Sept. 8, 2026 /CNW/ -- Canadian bestselling author and serial entrepreneur Sarah Baldeo is taking the unusual step from author to publishing owner, acquiring the independent house behind 100 Ways to Future-Proof Your Brain with plans to help more expert voices reach global audiences.

ID Quotient, founded and led by Baldeo, has acquired Arc & Edge, an independent Canadian publisher established in 2020. Financial terms of the private transaction were not disclosed.

"A brilliant manuscript can still disappear without the right launch behind it," said Baldeo. "Authors need marketing, content, distribution, visibility, events and an operating strategy that helps their ideas travel."

Arc & Edge will remain a selective independent publishing house, with an expanding focus on STEM, neuroscience, understanding the brain in the age of AI, and expert-led nonfiction.

Its model combines professional editorial development, design, printing and distribution with launch strategy, marketing, content support, retail access, author events, corporate sales, audio and international rights - supporting selected authors from manuscript to market and beyond.

The acquisition comes as AI raises new questions around authorship, copyright and the value of expert knowledge. The recent $1.5-billion Anthropic copyright settlement has brought those issues into sharper focus across the publishing industry.

"Different ideas need different pathways to market," Baldeo said. "Independent publishing can be highly selective, deeply hands-on and globally ambitious. For researchers, scientists and practitioners with ideas that deserve a larger audience, that combination can be powerful."

That ambition is already crossing borders. On Sept. 9, Baldeo will deliver the opening keynote at the Colorado Technology Association's Women in Technology Conference in Denver, where she will also sign copies of 100 Ways to Future-Proof Your Brain.
