Canadian artist chosen as a semi-finalist International Songwriting Competition

TORONTO, Feb. 28, 2014 /CNW/ - Canadian and Toronto resident, Dayna Shereck is a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) - an annual contest for songwriters to have their songs heard in an international professional arena. Her song, "I'm All In", co-written with Barbara Lynn Doran and Murray Daigle, was selected among thousands of entries in the Country category.

"It feels great to have this song recognized internationally," said Dayna Shereck, songwriter and semi-finalist in ISC. "I feel honoured to be sharing the semi-finalist title alongside such wonderful and talented writers."

This is Dayna's second year as a semi-finalist in this prestigious international competition, and last year she was named a finalist in the Great American Song Contest. She has also been put on Nashville Songwriters Association's "Ones To Watch" list and has had a handful of songs recommended for consideration to their Publishers Luncheon.

Shereck has collaborated with many top writers from Nashville and Toronto over the past few years. One of her collaborations has made it through a stringent filtering process in Nashville and is being pitched by a major label. "I'm All In" was not Dayna's first collaboration with Doran, the two have written a song that will be released by the country artist later this year.

"I have a lot of respect for Dayna's drive. Her relentless hard work, endless co-writing and frequent trips to Nashville have proven successful," said Barbara Sedun, President of Reliant Music, in Vancouver, B.C. "She has built relationships with artists and writers and her songs are being heard by mainstream major label artists."

This May, Dayna will be participating in the three-day Tin Pan North Festival put on by the Nashville Songwriters Association held in Toronto. The festival has featured headliners such as Michelle Wright, Victoria Banks, Tim Taylor among others in previous years.

You can find out if Dayna makes it as an ISC finalist during the next round of judging set for March 2014. This panel will include musical heavyweights like: Martina McBride, Bernie Taupin and Tom Waits. Winners will be announced in April and will receive cash, prizes, recognition and exposure in the music industry.
