Lang Marketing Network and the Vatican – Working Together to Put Sport at the Service of Humanity

TORONTO, Oct. 3, 2016 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, October 5th, global leaders and influencers from different religious faiths, sports, business, academia and media will convene at the Vatican for the inaugural Global Conference on Faith & Sport: Sport at the Service of Humanity. Together they will discuss how faith and sport can work together to better serve our society.

And while this conference is the culmination of efforts of key players from around the world, the strategic architect resides here at home. Lang Marketing Network, long known for their thought leadership and influence in the world of sports marketing, has drawn on years of experience to shape and drive the strategy behind this conference.

As the conference's operational architect, Lang Marketing Network called upon their vast network of relationships to mobilize key influencers who share their belief that the work they do should help to make the world a better place. Together, they have harnessed this passion to turn an idea into a global movement.

Chris Lang, Chairman of Lang Marketing Network, has built his career on a belief in the power and importance of strategic philanthropy and the need to make a positive difference in society. Through this conference, the Vatican provided him with the opportunity to deliver on this belief on a global scale.

"We as a society have an obligation to pay it back. Sport has been good to me for 48 years and this was a chance to give back." says Lang. "There is emotion in faith and in sport. This conference is the chance to marry those two for the betterment of society."

This conference, which is built on an idea initially conceptualized by His Holiness Pope Francis, has garnered international attention, bringing together 300 thought leaders from around the globe. This week, they will gather at the Vatican to discuss the inter-connectedness of Faith and Sport, and explore the scope and limit of this combination.

"Chris has the confidence and ability to take a risk on an idea, look beyond its constraints and bring it to life." says Shauna Barnes, Chief Operating Officer, Lang Marketing Network. "We are excited to champion a program that has such a positive, hope-filled message. For Chris, this conference isn't just an idea, it's a movement."

Historically, Lang Marketing Network's roll has been as a strategic operator who works behind the scenes. From creating the 1972 Canada vs Russia hockey series to breathing new life into figure skating in the 1980s, Lang has always had the ability to take an idea and steer it in the right direction.

"The fun in life is getting people to do things they don't think they can do. I get the greatest satisfaction in seeing people's joy when they have brought an idea to life. To see a successful outcome and people celebrating it." says Lang.
