Canada's first urban art museum is unveiled in Montreal
What started as a crazy idea is now bigger than ever.
Witness the birth of the first street art museum in Canada.
MONTREAL, Sept. 25, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canadian spirits brand romeo's gin is proud to announce the largest ever collaboration project of Montreal urban artists by launching romeo's museum.
It's the story of an entrepreneur, Nicolas Duvernois, CEO and Founder of romeo's gin and Pur Vodka, and his team, with the support of Sun Life Financial, UBISOFT, ALLIED and LOWE'S, joining forces to cultivate art every day, as a part of the environment and the community.
Before everything else, it's the story of 24 artists who create something out of the ordinary.
It all started here.
5445 and 5455 de Gaspé, in the Mile End neighborhood, in Montreal.
Every week, thousands of people take the industrial stairwell of 5455 and 5445 de Gaspé. They spend in total tens of thousands of minutes in transition between a space and another, moving between white walls with changing numbers.
''We wanted to build bridges in unusual spaces and gather the community around what makes us think and dream. It's time for urban art to take its place in the heart of the buildings, at a human scale'', comments Duvernois.
After Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin and St. Petersburg, Montreal will have its own street art museum, accessible and free to all, opened all year long, starting September 25th 2018.
24 murals created by 24 Montreal artists make an unusual space shine…the industrial stairwell!
