Today, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, along with Ramez Ayoub, Member of Parliament for Thérèse-De Blainville, and Linda Lapointe, Member of Parliament for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, announced an investment of more than $345.4 million for the completion of three road projects: the extension of Highway 19 between Highway 440 and Highway 640, the rehabilitation of Pie-IX Bridge between Montreal and Laval and the construction of a reserved lane on the Pie-IX Bridge.
The extension of Highway 19 between Saint-Martin Boulevard East in Laval and Industriel Boulevard in Bois-des-Filion will create an efficient safe public transit link and improve traffic flow. Among other features, there will be a new roadway with three lanes in each direction—including one lane reserved for buses, carpooling and electric vehicles—four interchanges, a new bridge, a park-and-ride lot and a bus terminal.
The rehabilitation of the Pie-IX Bridge will enhance public and active transit options and improve road safety. The work consists of replacing the current deck with a new reinforced concrete deck six lanes wide—four southbound and two northbound—widening the sidewalk on the west side and creating a new bicycle/pedestrian path on the east side. The third project will create a reserved lane for the Pie-IX Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) over a kilometre long on the Pie-IX Bridge that will be connected to the access ramps (north and south) on the Laval side.

- Through the New Building Canada Fund – Provincial-Territorial Infrastructure Component – National and Regional, the Government of Canada will allocate more than $260.4 million to the project to extend Highway 19 and more than $78.8 million to rehabilitate Pie-IX Bridge.
- Another federal contribution of more than $6.1 million will go toward the construction of a reserved lane on the Pie-IX Bridge, thanks to the Public Transit Infrastructure stream of the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan.
- Through the Investing in Canada infrastructure plan, the Government of Canada is investing more than $180 billion over 12 years in public transit projects, green infrastructure, social infrastructure, trade and transportation routes, and Canada's rural and northern communities.
- Of this amount, $28.7 billion is supporting public transit projects, and $10.1 is supporting trade and transportation projects, including a total of $10 billion available for investment through the Canada Infrastructure Bank.
