MONTREAL, March 1, 2016 /CNW/ - It's not just psychics who make their living looking into tomorrow for clients; many other professions, like meteorologists, hedge fund managers and venture capitalists also depend on predictive prowess. But their eventual accuracy results begs the question: Can anyone REALLY predict the future? The Ultimate Future Tournament (UFT15) will answer this question once and for all.
Presented by the world's first predictive gaming platform Play The Future, UFT15 is the Soothsaying Smackdown of the Century; a winner-take-all, personality-driven prediction championship for people who earn their living forecasting today what will happen tomorrow.
"UFT15 was inspired by the boisterous championships of the world of sports," said Parisa Foster, Co-Founder & President, Play The Future. "But we wanted to take the focus away from the physical to the mental and showcase the power of the 'muscle of thinking' instead. Since our launch two months ago, we've seen the type of knock-down, trash-talking competition our app has sparked, so we figured we'd put some of the top predictive thinkers in the country to the test."
UFT15 challenges a variety of prestigious futurists (dubbed the "The Fearless 15") to answer 15 prediction questions on March 15, the Ides of March. When the results are tallied, the futurist with the highest overall accuracy score will pocket $25,000; $15,000 to the charity of their choice and $10,000 to keep.
The public is also invited to play along on the Play The Future mobile app, with a $1,500 prize to whoever earns the day's best total score.
The Fearless 15 includes the following futurists:
- CEO of OMERS Ventures John Ruffolo
- Ipsos Reid President Carla Flamer
- Queen's Marketing Professor Kenneth Wong
- Retail Futurist Doug Stephens
- Hedge Fund Manager David Isaacman
- Cosmic Faux Band Space Kissa
- Psychic Communicator Deborah Louise Levin
- Mentalist Mike D'Urzo
- Medium Joyce Barnes
- Astrologist Tara Greene
- and more!
Each UFT15 question will be based on easy-to-verify, statistical elements, backed by an authoritative answer source. Players will get range-defining hints, and be encouraged to use other methods of assistance (search engines, previous data points) to pinpoint their guesses, because unlike trivia, there's no way to cheat on a random event that has not yet happened.
