CAJ deeply saddened by the death of Canadian journalist

OTTAWA, Dec. 31 /CNW/ - Statement by Canadian Association of Journalists President Mary Agnes Welch on the death of Calgary Herald Reporter Michelle Lang:

"On behalf of the 1,100 members of the Canadian Association of Journalists, I'd like to express my deep condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Michelle Lang, as well as to the families of the four soldiers killed Wednesday in Afghanistan. Ms. Lang risked her life, like many journalists before her, to bring a vital story home to Canadians so we can better understand our world and our role in it."

The CAJ is Canada's largest professional organization for journalists from all media, representing about 1,100 members across Canada. The CAJ's primary roles are to provide high-quality professional development for journalists and public-interest advocacy.
