VANCOUVER, Oct. 7, 2015 /CNW/ - Veteran journalist Kirk LaPointe has joined Business in Vancouver Media Group as vice president, audience & business development, Sue Belisle, President and Publisher announced today.

Mr. LaPointe has been in senior roles with a variety of major media outlets including senior vice president of CTV News, seven years as managing editor of The Vancouver Sun and six years as a host on CBC's Newsworld, as well as executive editor of the National Post, editor-in-chief and manager of Southam News and chief news editor and Ottawa Bureau chief for The Canadian Press. He holds an adjunct professorship in the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of British Columbia, served as executive director of the Organization of News Ombudsmen and was the Non-Partisan Association's mayoral candidate in last year's civic election. He is also involved in this fall's launch of Roundhouse Radio, a new Vancouver FM station, hosting the morning show.
Mr. LaPointe grew up in Toronto and earned an undergraduate degree in journalism from Ryerson University. He received the Canadian Journalism Foundation's Award of Excellence in 2001.
