GREATER TORONTO, Oct. 2, 2012 /CNW/ - Members of the Building Industry and Land Development Association raised more than $50,000 for Habitat for Humanity Toronto as part of a collective cycling event honouring the late Stephen Dupuis on September 23.
The event, renamed Stephen's Ride for Humanity, was created in September 2011 by BILD President and CEO Stephen Dupuis, who passed away just days before the scheduled Ride. With the support of Stephen's family, BILD went ahead with the event, subsequently making it an annual fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity Toronto in his honour.
"This year's Ride attracted nearly 200 participants and more than 50 volunteers from across the members, which really goes to show how dedicated this industry is to giving back to the community," said BILD President and CEO Bryan Tuckey.
"BILD has been a community partner with Habitat for the past decade and I am proud to be a part of this strong and loyal partnership," added BILD Chair Paul Golini Jr. "Not only do we build homes for people across the GTA, we also build support for families in need and it's organizations like Habitat that inspire us to do so."
BILD would like to thank all of the event sponsors, volunteers and participants and congratulate everyone involved in making it a highly successful event. For more on Stephen's Ride for Humanity, visit the official blog at bildblogs.ca, find bildgta on Facebook or follow @bildgta on Twitter.
