Attend 'A Beautiful Cause' Fundraising Event on May 24th at all Chatters Salon locations
CALGARY, May 11, 2015 /CNW/ - Leading hair and beauty salon chain, Chatters Canada Limited, has partnered with Women Leading Change, a non-profit organization that funds projects in Africa, to host a one day fundraising event to help build a school for girls in Uganda. Women Leading Change was founded by Lotte Davis of AG Hair, a preferred manufacturer partner of Chatters Canada.
'A Beautiful Cause' fundraising event will take place on Sunday, May 24th, 2015 at all Chatters Salon locations across Canada. By getting a haircut on the day of the event, customers will be directly contributing to Patongo School in Northern Uganda. 100% of the cost of all haircuts will be used to build and furnish 3 new classroom blocks (9 classrooms), construct a multipurpose dining hall for 1600 students, build and furnish a library, build a second girl's dormitory (108 beds) and construct 2 new teacher's housing units. Haircuts can be made by appointment or by drop-in, with limited space available.
Chatters Canada has been involved with Women Leading Change since 2012, working specifically with Patongo School and travelling in person to meet with the girls and understand their needs and daily struggles. Women in Africa are not given access to education, despite making up 50% of the population. In fact, only 23% of girls living in poor rural areas complete primary school. Giving girls access to education means they marry later, have fewer children, and contribute to the overall health and economic stability of their communities, villages and country.
Chatters Canada has set a fundraising goal of $100,000 for 'A Beautiful Cause'. Visit any Chatters Salon on May 24th to contribute by getting a haircut.
Chatters Canada Limited is a Canadian Franchisor, celebrating over 25 years in business. Chatters Salons have the largest offering of salon services and professional beauty supplies under one roof. 98 salons serve guests across 8 provinces, with locations from BC to Newfoundland.
