Government of Canada awards nearly $86,000 in financial assistance to Eastern Townships business
SAINT-ALPHONSE-DE-GRANBY, QC, June 8, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Businesses need to be able to rely on adequate resources to create and commercialize innovative products. The Government of Canada is therefore determined to support innovative Canadian businesses. As a true economic driver, innovation is the key to success in that it generates growth that benefits businesses and communities.
Pierre Breton, Member of Parliament for Shefford, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that Brosses Lacasse has been granted $85,800 in financial assistance, in the form of a repayable contribution. The enterprise can now improve its performance by increasing its productivity and production capacity thanks to the acquisition of new production equipment.
From its beginnings in 1959, Brosses Lacasse has been providing all types of brushes for clients in the agri-food, maple syrup, rail, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. The company is a pioneer in the manufacture of industrial brushes in Quebec and is still the only Quebec enterprise that designs, manufactures and refurbishes industrial brushes.
The funding awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program has helped Brosses Lacasse acquire a new numerical control (CNC) machine tool for the manufacture of cylinder and strip brushes, and to travel to Europe to train staff.
"Digital technologies are changing the business community around the world. These changes provide significant opportunities for Canadian companies that are ready. The future belongs to enterprises like Brosses Lacasse, which are adopting these new work methods and creating new business opportunities."
Pierre Breton, Member of Parliament for Shefford
"By investing in the acquisition of new equipment by Brosses Lacasse, the Government of Canada is standing by its commitments and helping businesses expand, innovate and export their products so that they can create high-quality jobs and ensure prosperity for the Canadian economy."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"CED's financial assistance is helping our company carry out the second phase of an important project. By increasing our production capacity, this new cutting-edge equipment is helping us continue to grow, and this makes us very proud."
Steve Bernier, President, Brosses Lacasse Inc.
