CALGARY, Oct. 17, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Alberta workers of logistics cash provider Brinks ratified a new labour contract on September 18, 2014.
The new collective agreement provides for wage increases of 2.5% to 3% per year for four years.
Representing the workers, Teamsters Local Union 362 also negotiated a new pension plan, which starts January 1, 2015. The company will be making contributions to the Prairie Teamsters Pension Plan starting at $2.90 for all hours, along with a Health & Welfare Plan that is provided by the Prairie Teamsters Health & Welfare, which will cover all employees. Several non-monetary clauses were also improved.
"The negotiations were tough but I am very satisfied with the outcome," said Lance Wallace, the Union Representative in charge of the file. "The bargaining committee and the workers banded together for a common cause and today reap the rewards of their efforts.
The new labour contract covers approximately 230 workers and will expire in September 2018.
