Bring Back Brunch this Holiday Season

Sun-Maid® conducts national survey, finds Canadian families that eat brunch will consider a festive brunch as a fresh take on a traditional holiday dinner

TORONTO, Nov. 14, 2013 /CNW/ - According to Sun-Maid® Raisin Bread's Bring Back Brunch Survey, 80 per cent of Canadian families with children under 18 in the household who eat brunch, would consider a festive brunch in place of the typical dinner this holiday season. 47 per cent of families surveyed indicated the reason why was that it offers a change of pace, and 36 per cent would do so because it allows for ample time to enjoy with guests. In response to these findings, Sun-Maid has developed four signature brunch recipes to help families get together in the kitchen and around the table. The new recipes - Starry Morning Raisin French Toast, Berry Merry Breakfast Cups, Leftover Makeover French Toast and Rise and Shine Raisin Coffee Bake - are delicious, easy to prepare dishes, made with Sun-Maid Raisin Cinnamon Swirl Bread.

"My wife and I enjoy hosting a holiday brunch celebration because it requires much less fuss than a dinner and is the perfect setting to try seasonal recipes, involve the kids and create easy dishes that allow you more time to visit with loved ones," says Chef Bob Villeneuve, Director of Culinary Innovation at Canada Bread. "Try Sun-Maid's new Starry Morning Raisin French Toast, a fun brunch dish that takes only 30 minutes to make start to finish!"

About the Research
From August 8th to August 13th 2013 an online survey was conducted among 1,513 randomly selected Canadian adults who have children under the age of 18 living in the household, eat brunch, and are Angus Reid Forum panelists. The margin of error—which measures sampling variability—is +/- 2.5%, 19 times out of 20. The results have been statistically weighted according to age and region to ensure a representative sample. Discrepancies in or between totals are due to rounding.
