Breakfast for Learning's batch recipes help feed hungry kids and give parents a hand to start the school year

TORONTO, Aug. 18, 2014 /CNW/ - Breakfast for Learning (BFL) is giving parents a hand with breakfast this back-to-school season by offering five irresistible, easy "Before the Bell" batch recipes kids will love. The booklet features kid-friendly recipes from BFL funded nutrition programs to nourish young minds across Canada. To sweeten mornings even more, those who download the recipe booklet by September 5, 2014 will have the chance to win one of three $100 President's Choice® gift cards!

"As Breakfast for Learning gets ready to help nourish children across Canada each school day, we know how important having a healthy breakfast is to starting the day right," said Breakfast for Learning Director of Community and Organizational Development, Kelly Berlinic. "By sharing our programs' best, kid-tested and dietitian-approved recipes we can help make the back-to-school breakfast routine a little easier for busy families."

Breakfast is essential in giving kids a healthy start to the day. In Canada, 31% of elementary and 62% of secondary students do not eat a healthy breakfast before school. Research shows that students who are well nourished perform better in school and have improved memory, problem-solving skills, verbal fluency and creativity. As one of the largest charities focused on nourishing children, BFL has helped 3.4 million of our country's future leaders enjoy over 510 million healthy meals and snacks in school programs across Canada.
