Join members of the ABISS -Acquired Brain Injury Survivor Solutions - on Sunday, February 10, 2019, as we release a new video project and tell of our challenges in dealing with automobile insurance companies following catastrophic injury.
"You pay your insurance premiums faithfully for many years," said Dave Gaylor, member of ABISS. "Unfortunately, when it comes to making a claim for your serious, life-changing injuries from an automobile collision, the insurance companies are just not on your side," he added.
The group shares their perspective on how the current system fails people with serious injuries and what has to happen to ensure that future victims get the help they need to recover.
About ABISS - Acquired Brain Injury Survivor Solutions
ABISS began as a social group for people living with brain injury. While the original purpose was to allow each of us to function comfortably in a group setting, what we discovered was that despite differences in age, gender, interests, and specific brain injuries, we found a commonality in many of our experiences after our injuries. Not only did it serve as an incredible support system but ABISS evolved into our advocacy work for other survivors of brain injury.
Along with our families, we have all struggled through a long recovery period to make new lives after life-changing injury and loss. We are dedicated to changing insurance rules so that those critically impacted in auto collisions in the future don't have to fight for rehabilitation they have paid for and should expect to receive.
