BP Canada and BP Foundation donate $450,000 to Flood Relief efforts
CALGARY, June 28, 2013 /CNW/ - BP Canada is donating $250,000 and the BP Foundation is providing an additional $200,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to assist in Southern Alberta flood relief efforts. The BP Foundation is a separate legal entity from BP and has donated more than $200 million since 2006 in North America.
"The amazing efforts of first responders, the City of Calgary and people stepping up to help friends, family and strangers only reinforces how fortunate we are to live in such a strong and proud community," says Christina Verchere, President BP Canada. "This donation underscores our commitment to helping in the flood relief efforts underway in our city and throughout Southern Alberta."
The $450,000 donation will assist Canadian Red Cross officials and volunteers in their efforts to provide shelter to those still displaced from their homes and emergency meals, clothing, water, and medical care to those affected by the floods. This donation is in addition to contributions made by BP employees who donate through the BP Foundation Employee Matching Program.
