TORONTO, Nov. 12 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream Inc. ("MTS Allstream") announced today that BMW Canada is the official green transportation partner for the 2009 Allstream Global Forum: An Evening with Vice President Al Gore, taking place on November 24, 2009 at the Allstream Centre in Toronto.
During this year's Allstream Global Forum, a draw will be held for a chance to win a two year lease on a new BMW 335d Advanced Diesel vehicle. A BMW Advanced Diesel will be awarded to the lucky Allstream Global Forum guest who visits every booth at the event's "Green Gallery of Innovation". Guests will automatically be entered by wearing their radio-frequency identification name badge and simply walking through the Gallery and visiting each booth. Booths will exhibit leading-edge green technologies and communications solutions from this year's event sponsors, some of the world's leading companies. For contest rules, visit www.allstream.com/globalforum/bmw.
The BMW 335d is powered by BMW's two-time International Engine of the Year Award winning 3.0 litre Twin Turbo in-line six-cylinder Advanced Diesel engine, the cleanest diesel engine BMW has ever produced. BMW's Advanced Diesels are 25% more fuel efficient and produce significantly less CO(2) emissions than a comparable gasoline engine.
BMW Canada will also provide Al Gore with a courtesy BMW ActiveHybrid X6 vehicle during his stay in Toronto. The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 provided to Al Gore is the world's first Sports Activity Coupé with full hybrid drive. It capitalizes on the benefits offered by combining the combustion engine with electric motors, offering a significant increase in driving dynamics while reducing fuel consumption by approximately 20% compared to a combustion engine only vehicle.
"We are pleased to work with BMW Canada as the transportation partner for the 2009 Allstream Global Forum," said Dean Prevost, President, Enterprise Solutions division, MTS Allstream. "Not only does BMW Canada have the ability to showcase their new ActiveHybrid and Advanced Diesel vehicles in front of the world, they will also participate in one of Canada's premier thought leadership events. Like BMW, Allstream is a leader in its respective industry known for having a culture of turning innovative ideas and high performance into successes."
"It was important to the Greater Toronto Area BMW retailers to support the 2009 Allstream Global Forum, and the opportunity to become the official green transportation partner was perfect," said Michael Ferreira, Regional Manager, Central Region, BMW Group Canada. "We are pleased to demonstrate how BMW Advanced Diesel and ActiveHybrid vehicles can provide the Ultimate efficient Driving Experience."
The Allstream Global Forum is one of Canada's premier thought-leadership events and is staged every year by MTS Allstream, one of Canada's leading national telecommunications companies. Attendees of the 2009 Allstream Global Forum will be the first in Canada to hear former U.S. Vice-President Al Gore share his new and compelling vision of how business can play a pivotal role in ensuring these changes are for the better through innovation and investment in new technology in his remarks, entitled Thinking Green: Economic Strategy for the 21st Century.
Special thanks to the 2009 Allstream Global Forum partners: Cisco, Mitel, Checkpoint, Microsoft, Ericsson, RIM, HP/EDS, Tandberg, Ricoh, CIENA, BMW Canada, AARFID, Two Technologies, VMC Group, MaRS, Board of Trade, IT World, David Suzuki Foundation, Sleemans, Imagin8, Toronto Star, Mike Weir Wine, Indigo, CTV, and Sony.
