Bluepoint Investment Corp. Receives CRTC Approval Of Its Acquisition of the
Saskatchewan Communications Network

OAKVILLE, ON, Dec. 27 /CNW/ - Bluepoint Investment Corporation has received approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to acquire the assets and operations of the Saskatchewan Communications Network (SCN), the province's educational broadcaster, from the Government of Saskatchewan.

"We are extremely pleased that the CRTC has approved our SCN acquisition and are grateful for the Commission's expeditious handling of our application," says Bruce Claassen, Chairman and CEO of Bluepoint Investment. Claassen adds, "I would also like to acknowledge the excellent leadership provided by Joanne McDonald, SCN Station Manager, and Richard Gustin, Bluepoint Project Manager for Western Canada, during the transition."

The conditions of license granted by the CRTC allows Bluepoint to continue as an educational broadcaster while also moving forward with a programming model that combines community and educational programming with commercial programming that is focused mainly in primetime. In its ruling, the CRTC has also restated Bluepoint's commitment to spending not less than $1.75 million per year on Saskatchewan programming and $1 million in Saskatchewan on digital programming and content.

The logistics of switching from a trustee-run station to owner-run will be the first priority for SCN. Programming and production plans will be revealed and discussed early in the new year.
