MONTRÉAL, Sept. 29, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Ivanhoé Cambridge is proud to announce an agreement with law firm Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) to lease approximately 55,000 ft2 (5,110 m2) of office space at 1 Place Ville Marie in Montreal. Blakes will occupy the 30th floor and part of the 31st floor under a long-term lease. This is one of the most important office leasing transactions in Montréal this year.
"We are very pleased to welcome Blakes to Place Ville Marie," said Claude Sirois, Co-Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, Quebec, at Ivanhoé Cambridge. "This is very exciting for all of us at Ivanhoé Cambridge as it demonstrates the affection and the confidence that people have in us and in Montreal's most iconic and prestigious property." Mr. Sirois added: "We are in the midst of a $100M modernization program at our Place Ville Marie and we will soon celebrate its LEED® certification. With our planned renovation program for the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth and our Sainte-Catherine St. retail destinations, we are making a critical and exciting contribution to the renaissance of the heart of our city."
"This move is consistent with the growth Blakes is experiencing in Quebec. Over the past 14 years, Blakes has grown from being a new player in the legal market to a top-of-mind Firm in the province of Quebec. We attribute this to the expertise and business focus our lawyers bring every day to serving our clients", said Robert Torralbo, Managing Partner in Montréal. "All of us at Blakes are looking forward to this move with a great deal of enthusiasm. Now, more than ever, when Quebec and Canadian businesses are in need of trusted legal advisors, Blakes means business."
Place Ville Marie expects to welcome Blakes in December 2015.
