BLACK HISTORY MONTH - READY, SET... REGISTER!
MONTREAL, Dec. 1 /CNW Telbec/ - This year's Black History Month will take place from February 1st to February 28th, 2011. The public is invited to celebrate 20 years of sharing, friendship, belonging and memories. Reclaim Our History, Reclaim Our Values is the theme that will inspire the events of the 20th anniversary celebrations.
Submit an Activity
Every year, the Round Table on Black History Month offers organizations, associations and event promoters the opportunity to publish information related to their Black History Month activities in the official program guide. To submit events, interested parties should complete the online form available at www.montrealblackhistorymonth.com by December 17, 2010.
Submit a Nomination for the Calendar
This calendar pays tribute to members of the Black Community who have distinguished themselves in their field of work/play. Honouring these individuals is a way to pay them homage and to present them as role models for the youth in the community, but also to emphasize their contributions to Quebec society at large. All nominations must be submitted by a third party.
In addition to the 20 individuals chosen by an advisory committee, the public may nominate candidates believed to carry on their legacies as leaders of tomorrow. Among the nominations received, 12 will be chosen (within four categories) to accompany the individuals honoured by the Round Table in the calendar photographs.
HOW TO SUBMIT A CANDIDATE:
- Submissions must be presented by someone other than the candidate.
- The registration form must be filled out by December 17, 2010. The form is available online at: www.montrealblackhistorymonth.com
- Applications received after this date will not be accepted.
YOUR WORK OF ART MIGHT VERY WELL BECOME THE OFFICIAL POSTER OF BLACK HISTORY MONTH
As in the past, the Round Table on Black History Month has put out a call for artists to submit proposals for paintings that best exemplify the symbolism of this year's theme.
This is an incredible opportunity for artists to have their work used as the official poster for this year's Black History Month.
To submit your work of art, please send a brief description and a photograph of the piece in question, along with your contact information to: [email protected]
Deadline: December 10, 2010.
