Bird Construction Inc. announces that it is part of a consortium selected as preferred proponent to design, build, finance and maintain the Stanton Territorial Hospital Renewal Project for the Government of the Northwest Territories

TORONTO, Aug. 26, 2015 /CNW/ - Bird Construction Inc. announced today that it is part of the Boreal Health Partnership consortium selected as the preferred proponent to design, build, finance and maintain the Stanton Territorial Hospital Project located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Bird has a 50% interest in (and is the managing partner of the construction joint venture) that will design and build the project. It will also take a minority equity interest in the concession responsible for the design, construction, financing and maintenance of the project through Bird Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary.
The new hospital is located on the same site as the current facility. It will include a floor area of over 280,000 sf and will offer outpatient and inpatient services including emergency, medical imaging, dialysis, obstetrics, pediatric, cardio and mental health departments as well as day procedure and surgery suites.
The consortium plans to reach financial close in September of this year with construction expected to commence shortly thereafter. At this time there can be no assurances that the consortium will receive a contract award related to this project.
