WENDAKE, QC, Nov. 28, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - The Assembly of First Nations Québec-Labrador (AFNQL) plans to call on the Senate to do the right thing and delay the final adoption of the Bill to legalize cannabis.
"Of all the promises of the Liberals of Justin Trudeau, it is undoubtedly the one related to last night's vote on Bill C-45 that threatens to further jeopardize an already fragile social fabric within our communities", declared Ghislain Picard, Chief of the AFNQL, in reaction to the House of Commons' vote on Bill C-45.
"Let's be clear. We know that this piece of legislation will become the new reality in this country because it is the wishes of this government. However, there government choose to shut its eyes to the realities of Indigenous communities", added the Chief of the AFNQL who will ask that Senate members take into account the vulnerability of Indigenous communities in reviewing this Bill.
None of the Ministers nor the Prime Minister are in a position to foresee the impacts of this Act on our people once implemented.
