Bilateral meetings a highlight of the AUDI BUSINESS TRIP
SAO PAULO, Nov. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Wrapping up their schedule of meetings in the United Arab Emirates, Brazilian CEOs taking part in the fourth edition of the Audi Business Trip from November 10th through 17th, met with Hamad bin Mejren, Executive Director of the Department of Tourism, Commerce and Marketing in Dubai (DTCM). At the meeting, Hamad stated that Brazil is an important market, both from the standpoint of trade as well as tourism. Trade relations between the two countries continue to increase: in terms of the number of visitors, there was a 16% increase in the first three quarters of 2013, when compared with the same period in 2012. "Brazil is Dubai's main business partner in Latin America, so it was natural for us to open our first regional office there," he said.
The delegation, which featured the participation of Brazil's Vice President, Michel Temer, was also received by the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Abu Dhabi, Khalfan Saeed Al Kaabi. "Abu Dhabi has few human resources, which is why partnerships with countries such as Brazil are essential," affirmed Al Kaabi. The Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said that he intends to intensify trade relations between the countries. "Despite the distance between the Emirates and Australia, there is an intense commercial and political relationship, and we would like to have that same kind of contact with Brazil," declared the crown prince.
According to Temer, Brazil is focused on the infrastructure projects it must carry out – ports, airports, highways – and the Arab Emirates have the necessary capital to bring to bear in this sector. The crown prince expressed interest in investing in the country, and undertook to send a delegation of businessmen to assess future transactions.
According to Joao Doria Jr., President of LIDE, the visit was extremely positive. "The two countries can expand the partnerships made now a great deal.
