MONTREAL, May 5, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - A new cemetery and funeral complex is now open on the island of Montreal. The Belvedere Cemetery and Funeral Complex is the first cemetery property to be opened in the province of Quebec in recent years and is owned and operated by Mount Royal Commemorative Services, a not for profit organization. It is nestled on the western tip of the island in Senneville and its 96 idyllic acres consist of beautiful rolling landscapes adjacent to the Morgan Arboretum. The Belvedere Cemetery and Funeral Complex will serve the interment needs of families from Montreal and as far west as the Ontario border.
With the region‛s diverse cultural population in mind, the complex has been designed to be flexible and offers multi-functional spaces that can be adapted to a family's specific requirements. The funeral complex was designed to challenge many of the perceptions people may have about funeral homes. The structure is flooded with natural light and expanses of picture windows look out onto acres of greenery. The natural environment becomes very much part of the experience for those attending a funeral event, either inside the funeral complex or outside on the cemetery grounds.
Belvedere Cemetery provides a variety of burial and memorialization options and is the third cemetery with onsite funeral home facilities developed on the island of Montreal by Mount Royal Commemorative Services. The first of these was the Mount Royal Cemetery which was established on the mountain in Montreal in 1852. Canada's first crematorium was added in 1901. The Mount Royal Funeral Complex was built in 1998; and later that year the cemetery was designated a National Historic Site by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. On the east end of the island, the Hawthorn-Dale Cemetery was opened in 1910 and the Des Trembles Funeral Complex was added in 1995. These cemeteries provide burial rights in perpetuity to Montrealers.
You are invited to visit the new Belvedere Cemetery and Funeral Complex and are encouraged to speak with one of our Counselors who can answer your funeral planning questions, or you may choose to simply enjoy the beauty and peace of the grounds.
