Bell Aliant wins injunction against Rogers' advertising
Judge's ruling will help ensure customers have access to clear and accurate information
FREDERICTON, May 4 /CNW/ - Today the Court of the Queen's Bench in Fredericton, New Brunswick granted Bell Aliant an injunction to stop Rogers Communications Inc. from claiming to have the 'fastest and most reliable' high speed Internet product.
In her decision, Justice Clendening ordered Rogers to stop claiming to have the "fastest speed," "most reliable speed," or "fastest and most reliable speed".
"We are very pleased with the judge's ruling today. We undertook this action to ensure that our customers have access to clear and accurate information," says Karen Sheriff, President and CEO, Bell Aliant. "We understand that marketing and advertising in a competitive industry is about making claims about products and services, but there is a line - and we felt strongly that Rogers crossed the line with these claims."
"We take this issue very seriously and we will continue to monitor our competitive environment to ensure that our customers have access to accurate and clear messages," says Sheriff.
