Behold The 2017 Canadian Vacation Planner, From Cheapflights.ca
When to Book to Get the Best Airfares to the 25 Most Popular Spots in Canada
TORONTO, March 21, 2017 /CNW/ -- Spring is officially here, meaning warm weather is coming and, with it, thoughts of summer vacation. And, in a year of celebration for all that Canada has to offer, there is no better place to visit than somewhere here at home.
Of course, to score a good vacation deal takes some advanced planning. One key question: when is the best time to book to get a good flight price? The reality is there is no single answer to that question. So experts at Cheapflights.ca, the champions of simple travel search, calculated how far out you need to plan, on average, to score the best deals on flights to the 25 most popular destinations across the country in its 2017 Vacation Planner: Best times to book a Canadian staycation.
The booking window for finding the best deals varies greatly – anywhere from 53 to 143 days in advance of travel. For instance, if you want to visit Canada's big cities this summer, you'd better book right now. The best fares to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal are generally available at least 140 days out, meaning deals are ripe right now for travel in August. If you'd like to explore the Viking Trail in Newfoundland or wine country in BC, 90 days advance booking is prime time for getting the best fares.
So get your calendars out and get planning. Here's how far you should look to book, on average, for a mix of top destinations:
- Vancouver, British Columbia – 143 days (4.75 months)
- Montreal, Quebec – 140 days (4.5 months)
- Calgary, Alberta – 118 days (4 months)
- Whitehorse, Yukon – 109 days (3.75 months)
- Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island – 89 days (3 months)
- St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador – 88 days (3 months)
- Thunder Bay, Ontario – 61 days (2 months)
- Deer Lake, Newfoundland – 53 days (1.75 months)
