TORONTO, March 2, 2020 /CNW/ - BDO Canada Limited, ('BDO') one of Canada's oldest and largest insolvency practices, is pleased to announce the integration of Hardie & Kelly Inc. (H&K), effective (March 1st, 2020). The merger with the Calgary-based corporate and consumer insolvency practice strengthens BDO's position in one of Canada's busiest insolvency markets and creates a dominant firm in the greater Calgary area.
Founded in 2005, H&K's Licensed Insolvency Trustees are trusted local advisors helping families and businesses find the solutions they need to address their debt problems. H&K offers a homegrown approach to a variety of clients in Calgary and Southern Alberta. Their intimate understanding of local challenges will be instrumental in helping BDO expand its insolvency services and better serve the families and businesses in the region.
"Our firm is committed to providing Canadian businesses and consumers with debt relief solutions when they need them," stated Doug Jones, National Insolvency Practice Leader of BDO. "By integrating Hardie & Kelly's corporate and consumer practice, we will improve the client experience we offer to consumers and businesses as the demand for insolvency services in the greater Calgary area continues to grow."
As one of Canada's most comprehensive consumer financial recovery practices, BDO is committed to increasing their presence in key markets from coast to coast. H&K will be pivotal in helping the firm deliver their services to the region. BDO currently has offices in Downtown Calgary and Airdrie. The merger will add three new offices in Calgary South, Calgary Northeast and Calgary Northwest.
"It's no secret that Calgary and the province of Alberta have been going through some tough times," stated Marc Kelly, founding partner of H&K. "Insolvency numbers have spiked well over ten per cent over the past year. It's a good time to operate with a larger team. Calgary families and businesses will now have greater access to one of the most well-respected names in debt services."
