BASF Canada announces the new evergreen Clearfield® Commitment
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 18, 2014 /CNW/ - BASF announced today that growers using the Clearfield® Production System for canola, wheat, lentils or sunflowers can now sign the new evergreen Clearfield Commitment beginning this fall for the 2015 growing season.
The terms of the new evergreen Clearfield Commitment require growers using the Clearfield Production System to sign the commitment one time only for each Clearfield crop. The evergreen commitment replaces the previous Clearfield Commitment process where growers had to sign yearly or multi-year commitments.

The new commitment not only streamlines the process for growers and makes it easier to grow Clearfield crops, but ensures trait integrity to optimize yields and helps to drive further innovation in the industry," said Chris Vander Kant, Clearfield Marketing Manager at BASF Canada. In the case of Clearfield wheat, the new evergreen Clearfield Commitment is now a retailer-specific agreement; growers who previously signed a Clearfield Commitment will need to sign the new evergreen commitment with the applicable Clearfield wheat retailer. Contact your Clearfield wheat retailer for more information on the new evergreen commitment.
In the case of Clearfield lentils, growers signing the evergreen Clearfield Commitment will need to sign a final commitment with annual reporting of Clearfield lentil acres in the future. As a part of the new evergreen Clearfield Commitment for lentils, BASF will continue to invest a portion of Clearfield lentil herbicide sales back into the Crop Development Centre (CDC), when matched with a signed commitment. This is part of BASF's continued support of new innovation and lentil variety development.
Growers using farm saved seed for either Clearfield lentils or Clearfield wheat will be required to complete a Clearfield Confirm-test annually to ensure trait integrity for Clearfield herbicide tolerance. Seed testing will continue to be conducted free of charge by accredited labs in Western Canada.
Growers signing the evergreen Clearfield Commitment for Canola, wheat or sunflower will not be required to register their acres annually.
Commitments can be signed at retail outlets, on the BASF secure grower website, through a certified Clearfield seed seller, via a BASF Representative, or by calling AgSolutions Customer Care.
