BASF announces new seed treatment registered for use in cereals
MISSISSAUGA, Jan. 16, 2013 /CNW/ - Growers looking to maximize crop production and ensure crops get off to the best start with excellent disease control have a new seed treatment available to them. BASF Canada (BASF) today announced that the Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) has registered INSURE™ Cereal seed treatment for use for the 2013 season.
INSURE Cereal is the only seed treatment that provides excellent disease control along with the unique plant health benefits of AgCelence™ for faster, more uniform emergence, leading to an improved stand, increased seedling vigour and maximized yield potential, especially in cold and wet weather.
"The active ingredients and the special seed treatment formulation work together to give seeds and seedlings protection from seed- and soil-borne diseases," says Piero Castro, Brand Manager, Cereal Fungicide and Seed Solutions at BASF Canada. "Also seeds treated with INSURE Cereal have the same benefits of AgCelence that growers have become accustomed to through using HEADLINE®."
INSURE Cereal provides multiple modes of action with active ingredients from Groups 3, 4 and 11 for effective, broad-spectrum disease control. Seeds treated with INSURE Cereal showed a higher percentage of emergence and higher yields compared to other treatments.
The product, which is registered on wheat, barley and oats, is effective in treating Seed rot, Seedling blight, and Loose smut and is available in a ready-to-use, liquid formulation that reduces damping-off effects.
